Feedback That Leads to Improvement in Student Essays: Testing the Hypothesis that “Where to Next” Feedback is Most Powerful

Feedback is powerful but variable. This study investigates which forms of feedback are more predictive improvement to students’ essays, using Turnitin Studio –a computer augmented system capture teacher and computer-generated comments. The used a sample 3,204 high school university students who submitted their received comments, then resubmitted for final grading. major finding was the importance “where next” led greatest gains from first submission. There support worthwhileness moderated systems that include both teacher- feedback.
